Mom's feelings & symptoms

Did You Know?
  • During early pregnancy, your metabolic rate increases 10 to 20%.
  • By the second trimester, a healthy pregnancy gain is 12 pounds – 2 for the baby, and the rest all the supporting system needed!
  • Some women leak a sticky, watery, pre-milk fluid called colostrum from their breasts during the last few months of pregnancy. This nutrient-rich fluid will provide your baby's first few meals before your milk comes in.
  • For the most part, the second trimester is a time when women experience higher energy levels and improved libido.
  • Many women experience mini-contractions of the uterus during the last few months of pregnancy. These little tightenings, called Braxton-Hicks contractions, are your body's way of rehearsing for the event of birth, and are usually painless.
