Relief for mom

Increased frequency of urination
You may notice more frequent urination as a result of your thickening uterus pressing on your bladder. Early in a pregnancy, the thickening wall of the uterus will press against the bladder making you have to urinate more often. The only thing you can do about this is just keep on peeing as often as you need to! Do not cut down on liquids, as your pregnant body needs them to supply your blood with necessary fluids and to assist in digestion. Make sure you are drinking at least eight glasses of water a day.

If increased frequency is accompanied by symptoms of burning or severe urgency or hesitation when you try to empty your bladder – you may have a bladder infection. Bladder infections can occur during pregnancy – so be aware of the symptoms ahead of time. Bladder infections can sometimes be silent and you may not feel any symptoms – so routine urinalysis checks by your health care provider are important. Bladder infections are easily treated with antibiotics that are safe to use during pregnancy.
