Post partum

  • After birth, hormones make your uterus contract and stimulate the production of breast milk.
  • Light bleeding and cramping is normal for a few days after birth.
  • Sexual intercourse is discouraged for about 6-8 weeks after birth.
  • Breastfeeding gives your baby his or her best possible start. Human milk contains at least 100 ingredients not found in formula.
  • Breastfeeding can help your recovery. It stimulates the uterus to contract back to its original size and it uses up extra calories, helping you lose your extra pregnancy weight.
