Do's and Don'ts
Get Support and Prenatal Care
Prenatal care is essential to a healthy baby and healthy mom. It’s best to talk with your health care provider before becoming pregnant. If you do become pregnant first, make an appointment as soon as possible, and begin taking folic acid, eating well, and exercising carefully.
Let your partner, family, and friends support you through the emotional and physical changes of pregnancy. Take time to learn about stress management and relaxation techniques. Making birth plans and educating yourself can help to alleviate worry. Allow time for yourself to truly take note of the unique changes occurring in your body, and ask for help when you need it. A new life will be entering the world, and you don’t have to know it all, do it all, and be it all.
