Do's and Don'ts

Excessive Stress
Don’t take on new stresses while you are pregnant (except, of course, if you are deciding to leave a dangerous situation to improve your safety). This is a time to take good care of yourself emotionally and physically. You may be having discomfort from pregnancy as well as mood swings and occasional conflicting feelings. This is common, and you will need time and space to sort out your thoughts and feelings about all the ways in which your body and life is changing. This can be a time to pamper yourself. You may want to cut back on your work hours or decrease the amount of work you do in the home. Stress is associated with heart disease, high blood pressure, headaches, digestive problems, anxiety, and depression...you name it – who needs it!

You have enough to do right now, just by being pregnant and taking care of yourself, without taking on other worries and concerns. Some stress is unavoidable, and some stress might actually be positive (marriage, promotion etc), but remember that pregnancy makes a lot of demands, so try limiting the amount of stress you have.
