Do's and Don'ts
Caffeine
Try to cut back on or completely eliminate caffeine from your diet. One caffeinated beverage per day is about the maximum amount you should ingest during pregnancy. Coffee, tea, and most colas have caffeine. Chocolate and cocoa may also contain caffeine.
Checking labels and asking for decaffeinated beverages will help you to watch your caffeine intake. Caffeine is a stimulant and a diuretic (encourages fluid loss), neither of which is good for pregnancy, as good hydration and the ability to rest are essential! Try switching to mild herbal teas, fruit juice, water, decaffeinated sodas and coffees.
