Prevention of Lyme Disease
The list below include many prevention measures that you should follow during the “ the tick season:”
  • Avoid tick-infested areas in spring and early summer months.
  • Walk in trails, avoiding brushy, high grass areas.
  • Wear light-colored clothing to spot ticks easily.
  • Wear hat or tie hair closely for added protection.
  • Tuck pants into boots or socks
  • Wear long-sleeved shirts and tuck into pants.
  • DEET-containing repellants may be applied to clothing, and hands. (wash off once inside) For children, use products with 10% DEET or less.
  • Inspect body carefully after being outdoors or with pets.
