Risk of pregnancy without intercourse
While it is very unlikely, there is still a small chance of pregnancy without intercourse. Sperm are present in the semen and pre-ejaculatory fluid. If either of these fluids come in contact with the female external genital area, especially when there is sexual lubrication, the sperm may enter the vagina.

Even if you don’t plan to “go all the way”, using a condom is still a good idea for added safety in preventing pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases.
