Infertility
Discuss multiple gestation pregnancy issue - before treatment begins
If you are considering taking ovulation stimulating medications and attempting pregnancy through intercourse, IUI or ART, review the information you get from your medical team for the answer to these questions:
- How will the clinic monitor my response to medications, and how often will I be asked to come in for monitoring?
- How long does a monitoring appointment take, and what time of day are they scheduled?
- How will the clinic manage my care if my ovaries produce too many follicles to proceed safely with intercourse or IUI? At what points might you recommend "coasting" or cycle cancellation?
- How many embryos would the clinic recommend be transferred during an IVF cycle, based on my (the woman's) age and medical history? What is the recommendation if it is an egg donor cycle (with eggs from a younger woman)? Am I a candidate or the blastocyst transfer procedure?
- Does the clinic have facilities for freezing embryos that are not transferred during a "fresh" cycle?
