Bladder Health

Diabetes and urinary incontinence
Often, diabetics endure a particular type of incontinence known as urge incontinence. This happens when you can’t hold your urine long enough to reach a toilet. With diabetes, the nerves can be affected causing a decrease in bladder sensation. Over time, the muscle gets floppy from being over-stretched. Overflow may occur or urgency and urge incontinence. Using timed voiding (scheduled bathroom breaks) rather than waiting for the “urge” may be useful.
