Birth ControlDental DamsA dental dam, like a condom, is one type of barrier method. It is a square piece of rubber that is placed over the labia or anus during oral-vaginal or oral-anal intercourse. It has not shown to be as effective as condoms for reducing sexually transmitted disease (STD) transmission in heterosexual relationships.
