Adolescent Health

What It's About
Adolescent health is promotion of wellness and medical care to the 34 million adolescents, aged 10 - 19 years, in the United States. Since childhood, most adolescents receive their medical care from a family physician or pediatrician. Young women may begin to see a specialist nurse or physician for female health (OB/GYN), when they experience problems with menstruation or become sexually active.

Beginning her care early will enable her to learn the most about her body and what to expect and be better prepared for common health risks facing adolescents these days. Your doctor can help teach young women to be comfortable with their bodies and to start early on the road to good health.
