Dr. Taylor graduated from Kalamazoo College in 1975 with a B.A. in Health Sciences. Her medical degree was earned from the University of Michigan Medical School where she graduated with distinction in 1981 in the top 10% of her class. She also received the American Women's Association Award for Scholastic Achievement. Subsequently she did her residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Michigan Medical Center Women's Hospital from 1981 to 1985.
She moved to Hartford in 1985 and began private practice in obstetrics and gynecology. In 1996 she received the first Golden Heart Award from ConnectiCare as the participating physician with the highest marks in patient satisfaction. She has also been listed as a "Top Doc" in Connecticut Magazine in 200, 2002, 2004, and 2006. Dr. Taylor has also been named as a "Best Doctors in America", a survey of peers that asks other doctors "If you or a loved one needed a doctor in your specialty, to whom would you refer them?"
Dr. Taylor is board-certified with the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as being a member of the American Urogynecologic Society. She currently practices only gynecology with a special interest in pelvic floor disorders, including prolapse and urinary incontinence. Dr. Taylor is a a member of the Board of Director's Executive Committee at Hartford Hospital, a Hartford Hospital Corporator, and served as Co-Director of Gynecology until 2006. She was an American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology Marshall from 1992 to 1996 and served on the ACOG Technical Bulletin Committee for Obstetrics in 1995.
In 2005 she founded Taylor Associates/Gynecology. She enjoys cross country skiing, raising heirloom tomatoes, and traveling. Twice she has traveled to Nigeria to work with other physicians to provide obstetrical and gynecological care to women in small towns who have no access to medical care. When she retires she plans on spending time providing medical care in Third World Countries.
