Dr. Rau graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, cum laude, with a Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry in 1980. He continued his studies at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, where he received his medical degree in 1984.
In 1988, Dr. Rau completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Hartford Hospital, where he was recognized with the Joseph Klein Award for outstanding performance. He continued to train at the University of Tennessee Medical Center, concentrating in Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology. Dr. Rau is the Director of the Division of Gynecology at the Connecticut Children's Medical Center and Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine.
Board certified in 1990, Dr. Rau joined Gynecology & Obstetrics in 1991.
