Dr. Olson received his bachelor's degree from Harvard University. He earned his medical degree from the University of Nebraska. He served a rotating internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Hartford Hospital, earning the John C. Leonard Award and Fellowship. He then completed a fellowship in Maternal and Fetal Medicine at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford.
The University of Connecticut School of Medicine, where he is Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, recognized Dr. Olson in 1989 with an award for his teaching performance.
Board certified in 1979, Dr. Olson has been with Gynecology & Obstetrics since 1977.
