Dr. Kates graduated from Princeton University and Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He then interned in obstetrics and gynecology at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.
Upon completion of his residency at the Los Angeles County General Hospital, Dr. Kates was awarded a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the Boston Hospital for Women. During this time, he also served as an instructor in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Kates served as Director of Infertility at Harvard Hospital from 1980-1986. He is a member of the American Fertility Society and the Society of Reproductive Surgeons. Board-certified in 1976, Dr. Kates joined Gynecology & Obstetrics, P.C. in 1976
